Hourcut — Privacy Policy

Last updated June 23, 2026

1. Summary

Hourcut is a workout-counting app. Your workout content stays on your device — everything you enter (workouts, sets, reps, weights, rest times, and settings) is stored locally and is never uploaded to us. We have no accounts, no login, and no advertising in this version. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous crash and error diagnostics, which we use solely to find and fix bugs (see Section 4a). We do not use analytics or tracking for advertising or profiling.

2. Information we collect

Your workout data never leaves your device. The only exception is anonymous crash diagnostics described in Section 4a. Specifically:

3. Data stored on your device

The workout data you create (exercises, sets, reps, weights, rest times, history, and app settings) is stored locally on your device only, using the operating system's standard local storage. This data is never uploaded to us or to any third party. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.

4. Device permissions

Notifications: Hourcut asks for permission to send local notifications so it can alert you when your rest period is over ("rest nudges"). These notifications are generated and scheduled entirely on your device. We do not use push notifications and do not send any notification data to a server. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; the app still works without it.

4a. Crash and error diagnostics (Sentry)

To keep the app stable, Hourcut uses Sentry, a third-party crash- and error-reporting service, to collect anonymous diagnostic data when the app crashes or hits an error. This is limited to technical information such as the error/stack trace, app version, device model, and operating system version. It does not include your name, email, account (there are none), or any of your workout content (exercises, sets, weights, etc.). We use this data only to diagnose and fix bugs — never for advertising, profiling, or sale. Sentry processes this data on our behalf as a service provider. Crash reporting can be turned off in the app's Settings.

5. Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. The only third party that receives any data is Sentry, our crash-diagnostics provider, and only the anonymous technical diagnostics described in Section 4a. Your workout data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to anyone.

6. Children's privacy

Hourcut is a general fitness utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal information at all, no special children's data is gathered.

7. Data retention and deletion

Your data lives on your device for as long as you keep it. You can erase all your data at any time using the in-app "Erase all data" option in Settings, or by deleting the app. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA, and Korea's Personal Information Protection Act), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information held about you. Since Hourcut holds no personal information about you on any server, these rights are satisfied directly on your device: you control, edit, and delete all your data yourself.

9. Future changes

This version of Hourcut is fully offline. Future versions may add optional, opt-in features such as cloud backup (requiring an account) or advertising. If we add any feature that collects or transmits data, we will update this policy and present the change in the app before the feature is enabled, and request any required consent (including, where applicable, App Tracking Transparency on iOS).
